Information Publication Scheme
Part II of the Freedom of Information Act 1982(Opens in a new tab/window) (FOI Act) establishes an Information Publication Scheme (IPS) for Australian Government Agencies subject to the FOI Act. The IPS promotes an open and transparent culture across government. DHA continues to build a pro-disclosure culture by publishing a broad range of information available to the community, including its Agency Plan which explains how the IPS is administered.

The FOI Act requires us to publish certain information about our organisation on our website.
What we do
Under sections 8(2)(c) and 8(2)(j) of the FOI Act, we are required to publish a description of the functions and powers of the agency and operational information (the rules, guidelines, practices and precedents relating to our functions and powers). Learn more about DHA and how we operate.

Under sections 8(2)(g) and 11C of the FOI Act, we are required to publish information to which the agency routinely gives access in response to FOI requests and the disclosure log of information that has been released under the FOI Act.
The Freedom of Information disclosure log lists documents the agency has previously released through FOI requests.

Our finances
Under section 8(4) of the FOI Act, we publish information about our finances.
Our lists
Under section 8(4) of the FOI Act, we publish information about DHA’s contracts, grants and appointments and information held in registers required by law, and other lists and registers relating to the DHAs functions, including the documents listed below.
Consultation
Under section 8(2)(f) of the FOI Act, we are required to publish information about consultation arrangements that enable members of the public to comment on specific policy proposals for which we are responsible. If such information is published it will be published on DHA’s website with information as to how to make a comment about any policy proposal.
Artificial Intelligence
At Defence Housing Australia (DHA), we are committed to the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance our services and operations while ensuring transparency, accountability, and the protection of privacy. Our AI Transparency Statement outlines DHAs approach to integrating AI technologies and how DHA will prioritise fairness, security, and transparency in all AI-driven initiatives.
IPS compliance review
In accordance with section 9(1) of the FOI Act, we will review the operation of the IPS as appropriate from time to time, and at least every five years, and update our agency plan as required.
Online information, in all formats, is regularly reviewed for currency and accuracy. Outdated information is replaced and archived.
