Defence Housing Australia (DHA) has welcomed Ms Andrea Galloway and Mr Ewen Jones to its Board for three-year terms, commencing November  and December 2016 respectively.

Ms Galloway has over 25 years of executive management experience gained in strategic planning, business development and quality customer service in both national and multinational commercial organisations.

Highly respected by her peers, Andrea was named the Australian and NSW winner of the Telstra Business Women’s Award for Innovation in 2014 and is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Evolve Housing.

Mr Jones, the former Federal Member for Herbert, was a member of several House of Representatives Standing Committees, including Procedure, Appropriations and Administration, and Education and Employment. He chaired this third committee for 18 months.

Before entering politics Mr Jones was an auctioneer and worked in the financial services and real estate sectors. He is currently the Director of All Points North Advisory Pty Ltd.

Both Ms Galloway and Mr Jones are also members of the Board Audit Committee and Board Property Committee.

The Board of Directors is the accountable authority for DHA under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and is responsible for the proper and efficient performance of DHA’s functions.

The Board reports regularly to DHA’s joint shareholder ministers, the Minister for Defence and the Minister for Finance. The Board makes decisions on DHA organisational direction and strategy, largely through a Corporate Plan.

The Board met in early February 2017; the first of nine meetings this year. Next month it will hold its Annual Strategic Meeting and receive presentations from the Secretary of Defence and the Secretary of Finance.
