Advising DHA you are moving out
If you need to move out of your DHA property, let us know via an Online Services enquiry including:
- the date you are moving
- why you are moving.
If you need DHA's help to find a new housing solution, include the date you need your new housing.
We need 21 days' notice if you plan to vacate your DHA property.
If you need to change your vacate date, let us know via an Online Services enquiry.
If you know you have an upcoming requirement to relocate, however the date is unconfirmed, still get in touch with DHA as soon as possible. Your vacate date can be extended as required, simply notify DHA in your enquiry that the date is currently unconfirmed, and update us later when it becomes confirmed.
Temporary accommodation
Temporary furniture
If you require resupply of temporary furniture for up to two months at the end of your occupancy, to accommodate for your owned furniture being shipped home ahead of you, contact DHA as early as possible to coordinate. You can submit a request via an Online Services enquiry, using enquiry reason Service Residence - Furniture Arrangements.
Minimum notice periods apply to delivery of temporary furniture.
Pre-vacation inspection
A pre-vacation inspection (PVI) occurs prior to you moving out of the property.
The purpose of the PVI is to explain key information such as your responsibilities as the occupant, maintenance and cleaning requirements and identify potential tenant charges.
If personnel are sharing, all occupants must be in attendance (or have an appointed agent representing you).
Items not completed will be converted to a tenant charge.

Cleaning checklist
Cleaning standards must match the standard you were provided the property in. You are responsible for cleaning the residence to standard, and any associated costs for extra cleaning if you have not met the required cleaning standard.
If you have any concerns or questions, ensure you discuss these matters with your property manager at the time of your pre-vacation inspection (PVI).
