Builder profile: Maidment Group

Home to the Lavarack Barracks, Australia’s largest Army base, Townsville plays a proud and important role in the nation’s defence. With the Barracks currently undergoing a comprehensive expansion project to become a major training and logistics centre, Townsville is preparing to welcome an additional 500 Defence personnel and their families over the next 5 years1.  

To meet this growing demand for high-quality housing for Defence members and their families, DHA is working with local builders and developers to deliver around 400 homes within 30 kilometres of Lavarack Barracks. These new, high-quality and affordable homes will be leased to DHA to provide secure accommodation tailored to the diverse needs of incoming Defence families as they settle into their new community.

**Rent may be subject to abatement under certain circumstances such as loss of enjoyment or amenity, or breach of lease terms. Rent is paid where the property is habitable.
