HMAS Cairns and the 51 Far North Queensland Regiment (FNQR) do not have LIA on site. LIA for both is provided at two off-base hotel style buildings, located approximately 3 km from HMAS Cairns and 14 km from 51 FNQR. Both sites are manned 24 hours/day. Ensure you check your cabin confirmation for the building you are allocated to:
- The Northern Heritage; is located at 243 Sheridan Street.
- Las Palmas; is located at 275 Sheridan Street.
A valid Defence pass is required to gain access to the base and will be required at reception of both off site locations. Visiting Defence personnel should familiarise themselves with any additional security arrangements prior to arrival. Non-ADO personnel occupying LIA are required to have base approval prior to arrival. This includes members of foreign forces, minors, non-ADO visitors.
Cabins are provisioned for stays up to 21 days with soap, toilet paper and towel (replenished and cabin cleaned every seven days). You will need to bring your own toiletries, towels and clean your own cabin for longer stays (excluding Duty officer, Recruit or Cadet Accommodation). For further information about your cabin, contact the base Accommodation Office.
It is essential that you are aware of your LIA obligations in accordance with PACMAN, Annex 7.3.A: Licence to Live In
DHA cannot take requests – contact E&IG/base POC – CMDR(E) above only.
