Biography
Mr Barry Jackson joined DHA as Managing Director in May 2019. Barry came to DHA from the Department of Human Services where he held the position of Deputy Secretary, Service Delivery Operations. He previously held a number of roles in the Department including Deputy Secretary, Shared Services and General Manager, Corporate Operations Division.
Barry’s public service career includes senior executive roles within the Department of Finance and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In addition to his time in the public service, he has more than 25 years’ experience in the private sector primarily in the areas of construction, property, strategic and business process management. Prior to re-joining the public service, Barry held the position of Chief Executive Officer for UGL Services Australia and New Zealand who were Australia’s largest provider of property management services.

 Key responsibilities
  • Ensure DHA fulfills its role in accordance with the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987
  • Conduct DHA’s day-to-day business in accordance with the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013, the Public Service Act 1999 and other relevant legislation
  • Relationship management, including Shareholder Ministers, departmental secretaries and the Chief of the Defence Force
  • Strategic management, including achievement against the Corporate Plan and oversight of the Executive group and staff

Biography
Mr Jorgensen joined DHA as the National Manager, Governance in August 2008. He was appointed General Manager, Property and Tenancy Services in May 2012 and General Manager, Property Provisioning Group in August 2018. In February 2020, Brett was designated General Manager, Services. Before joining DHA he held a number of appointments at the Department of Defence as a civilian and was a member of the Royal Australian Air Force.

Biography

Mr Groenewegen joined the DHA executive in August 2018, initially as interim CFO before being permanently appointed to the position in September 2019. Paul is an experienced executive and consultant with a background in governance practice; strategy development and implementation; fiscal management; compliance and risk activities; and government operations involving regulation and policy. His previous roles include governance and review work with government and industry organisations, executive roles with prudential regulators APRA and PHIAC and several financial management roles involving a range of functions from the oversight of whole of government payments through to the financial management of complex multi-program organisations.

Biography
Mr Jordan joined DHA as Company Secretary in August 2008 and was appointed General Manager, Governance in February 2017. Before joining DHA he held various public sector appointments at the Department of Finance and the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts. He also worked in the education sector in Tasmania, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory.

    Ms Suzanne Pitson

    Biography
    Mr Heydarian joined DHA in August 2019 after almost four years at the Department of Human Services (DHS) where he played a key role in reshaping the department’s service delivery model. Hamid brings with him a diverse experience through both public and private sectors, including Oxley Corporate Finance and EY. Before DHS, Hamid spent many years at the Department of Finance delivering a range of projects, including whole of government arrangements. He has extensive knowledge in service delivery, business transformation, data analytics and developing business intelligence to support organisational decision making.
