While Albury-Wodonga is often referred to as one place, they are in fact two separate cities, divided by the Murray River on the NSW-Victorian border. Located only 7km apart, the cities have a close relationship. Albury, on the NSW side, is 567kms southwest of Sydney and has a population of nearly 45,000.
Wodonga, on the Victorian side, has a smaller population of approximately 35,000 and is located approximately 300kms north of Melbourne. Despite having their own city councils, Albury and Wodonga share many social and educational services, infrastructure and business opportunities.
