08 October 2015 DHA breaks ground on Members Choice developments to be built in QLD

Award-winning developer, Defence Housing Australia (DHA), has celebrated the start of construction on the first of three Members Choice Accommodation (MCA) developments to be built in the local Brisbane area.

DHA General Manager Property Provisioning Group, John Dietz commented ‘these homes provide a fantastic opportunity for local Defence members to enjoy generously proportioned floor-plans in a quiet suburban setting close to local amenities, transport and Gallipoli Barracks.’

‘The provision of modern homes within the suburbs of Everton Park, Chermside and Stafford catering to the needs of Defence members will prove to be an asset to Defence when looking to retain and attract quality personnel,’ said Mr Dietz.

Upon completion, these three developments will provide 65 new two bedroom apartments. Targeted at single Defence members, these homes are desirably located in quiet suburban areas, which are in short distance of shopping centres, recreation and public transport facilities.

The three developments all feature ample private and communal space that also feature barbecue facilities. The Chermside and Stafford projects also benefit further from the amenity provided by local parks adjoining the sites.

Built to Liveable Housing Australia’s silver performance level, all units feature neutral modern fittings and finishes, ensuite bathrooms, tiling throughout and ample storage. The kitchens feature stainless steel appliances, stone bench tops and clean modern joinery design.

The developments incorporate environmental design features such as: on-site storm water basins that minimise the burden on local storm water drainage in large weather events; drought resistant plants in outdoor spaces; the incorporation of LED lighting throughout and the enabling of cross-ventilation throughout a majority of units.

MP Tim Mander, Member for Everton, Major Graham Palmer, 7th Brigade Welfare Officer and DHA General Manager Property Provisioning Group, John Dietz, turn the first sod of soil to celebrate the start of construction on the Member’s Choice Accommodation (MCA) developments to be built in Brisbane.
