Easter Sunday saw Canberra Raiders supporters head in droves to GIO Stadium to see their team take on Melbourne Storm and enjoy the fun and festivities of DHA’s match day entertainment.
Although some supporters had already had their fair share of chocolate, they were greeted at the forecourt by DHA staff with 25 kilograms of free Easter eggs and thousands of limited edition, Viking helmet inspired beanies (featuring both DHA and retro Raiders logos). These Easter presents proved hugely popular, with stocks exhausted before the main game even started!
The young and young-at-heart also got the chance to throw a wet, soapy sponge at Raiders players who stood behind cut-out drawings of DHA mascot, Rex D. Dog, and Raiders mascot, Victor the Viking. Huge football-sized Easter eggs were awarded as prizes for the best throwing skills, including one for a sponge that bypassed the cut-out to hit match announcer, Cam Sullings, in the face during a live telecast!
At half-time, selected Raiders supporters donned Easter bunny ears and tails to compete in a 50 metre egg-and-spoon race, with giant chocolate eggs and shovel-sized spoons. Congratulations to all participants, especially the White family who took out first place and were awarded a Raiders Legacy jersey.
DHA also launched its new video, featuring Raiders supporters who had worn their beanie with pride at the previous week’s match against the Newcastle Knights. Thanks to all those that participated, especially those who got to see their face on the big screen! You can check out the video here.
With the weather getting colder, DHA expects to see supporters wearing their beanie with pride at future games and around town. Don’t forget to use #DHABEANIE when modelling your DHA beanie on social media and look out for exciting competitions!
And if you missed out on securing a limited edition DHA beanie this year, never fear. DHA has chosen to extend its marketing agreement with the Raiders into the 2015 season. Who knows what quirky idea it will come up with next year!
