20 February 2020 Arkadia sets the standard for inner-city living

The much anticipated Arkadia Apartments, located in Sydney’s trendy inner city suburb of Alexandria, was officially opened by award-winning developer Defence Housing Australia (DHA) today.

DHA Chairman, the Hon J.A.L. (Sandy) Macdonald was joined by the Minister for Veteran Affairs and Defence Personnel, the Hon Darren Chester MP to unveil 152 apartments that Defence members, their families and the wider community will soon call home.

Mr Macdonald said DHA had a vision to bring something new to the Sydney property market and that Arkadia certainly met the brief.

’Arkadia Apartments is a great example of how DHA continues to deliver inspired, sustainable projects while also providing modern choices for Defence members and their families in central locations,’ Mr Macdonald said.

‘Everything about Arkadia has been designed with the environment in mind. We have incorporated a number of initiatives aimed at keeping water and energy costs down for residents today, as well as future generations.’

Built to DKO and Breathe Architecture’s winning submission in the <insert year> City of Sydney architectural design competition, Arkadia is like nothing else, bringing together green living and urban lifestyles.

Unique architecture and distinctive artwork blend with open green space, communal vegetable gardens, a chicken coop, barbeques and dining pods, to create not just a home, but a village lifestyle for the residents.

The beautiful façade is constructed from 100% recycled brickwork, reflecting Alexandria’s industrial heritage and paying tribute to the area’s local brickyard legacy.

The Arkadia complex comprises 152 apartments—offering a mix of studio, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and terraces
