12 November 2018 Aulds Road site to be transformed into parkland community

Located in the vibrant rapidly growing Ripley Valley growth corridor, the Aulds Road site covers 15.45 hectares and will comprise 204 land lots.

‘Aulds Road is a key strategic development being DHA’s second masterplanned community in the Ipswich region,’ DHA Board Member Janice Williams said at the sod-turning event.

‘Our first masterplanned community, Torhaven at Deebing Heights, is currently under construction with the first stage just completed. This new development reinforces our commitment to Defence members and their families posting to the region and particularly those posted to Amberley in Ipswich.’

Drawing inspiration from its natural surrounds. More than 32 per cent of the site will be open space, with the majority of existing vegetation to be retained. This includes a 50-metre buffer zone at the northern boundary of the site adjoining Bundamba Creek, where large established gums stand.

‘Our vision for Aulds Road is to create a sustainable, safe, parkland community that’s characterised by high-quality homes, tree-lined streets and shared community spaces,’ Ms Williams said.

‘DHA purchased the land in 2016 from Lorna May Auld. Lorna and her late husband, John David Auld, had their family home and farm on the site, and raised three sons and a daughter there. Some of the family still live close-by and DHA hopes to be able to recognise the family within the development.’

The Aulds Road development will deliver 40 homes for Defence members and their families, supporting the Air Force and Army at the Amberley Base in Ipswich. The first allocation of 14 Defence homes is due to be delivered in September 2019. The remaining 164 land lots will be sold to the public. The sales launch of the first 14 retail lots is due to commence in early 2019.

Development approval is expected from the Ipswich City Council by the end of this year. Civil construction is due to commence in December 2018 or January 2019.
