12 September 2014 Inaugural DHA summit proves successful

Defence Housing Australia (DHA) joined with other organisations that provide support services to Defence to discuss the future of aligned, cooperative and consultative defence/industry partnership.

For the first time this year the summit incorporated the inaugural Defence Housing Australia Summit, focusing on ‘Supporting the Defence community with an accommodating housing model’. Discussion focused on the current management of the property portfolio, Australian housing economics, effective procurement modelling, community and family engagement with defence, efficient logistics co-ordination and the future of Defence housing in Australia.

‘DHA are continually looking to improve the way it does business with its stakeholders, through the use of mobile technology and enhancements to our core web-based system, Online Services,’ DHA Managing Director Peter Howman said.

The event heard from the senior leadership team from DHA, construction and engineering contractors and senior Defence officials.

‘Attendees complimented DHA on how far we have come,’ he said. ‘This was in reference to not only the quality of our housing, but also our innovative use of technology to engage our stakeholders.’

By bringing together the key stakeholders, as well as other support organisations, DHA is able to leverage constructive partnerships to optimise its support to Defence. Which assists in building a long-term strategic outlook for Defence support in Australia.
