New HomeOwner Scheme Administrator
Legislation has recently been passed by the Commonwealth Parliament to establish the new Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme (DHOAS) and to make changes to the current Defence HomeOwner Scheme (DHOS).
Under this legislation, on and from 1 July 2008:
- the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) will be responsible for administration of both the DHOS and the DHOAS;
- ADF members currently in receipt of subsidy assistance under the DHOS may continue to receive assistance under the DHOS;
- serving ADF members will not be eligible to apply to receive assistance under the DHOS. (Serving ADF members may be eligible to apply to receive subsidy assistance under the DHOAS); and
- eligible ADF members who have separated from the ADF prior to 1 July 2008 (and who do not provide any further service following their separation) may be eligible to apply to receive assistance under the DHOS.
