Step 1: About our leasing program

Defence Housing Australia's primary role is to provide accommodation and relocation services to members of the Australian Defence Force and their families. One of the ways in which Defence Housing Australia (DHA) provides accommodation is by directly leasing properties from private investors.

DHA's leasing arrangements mean you agree to lease the property to us for a specified term, and pay us a fee to manage and maintain the property. In return, you receive a reliable income stream, with guaranteed rent for the life of the lease, and high-quality property management and maintenance for the term of the lease.

How we evaluate your property

When evaluating your property, we ensure that it complies with the minimum housing standards and rental guidelines set by the Department of Defence. Properties must also match our desired property profile and requirements for leasing in a particular location.

How long DHA leases for

DHA will generally lease properties for terms of up to six years. In addition, our leasing arrangements commonly include an option for us to extend the lease term for a fixed period. As a result, we can offer a leasing package that suits the needs of most investors.
