DHA upgrading houses at Puckapunyal
Defence Housing Australia (DHA) is currently undertaking a major renovation program of housing on-base at Puckapunyal. The work on houses began earlier this year with new pergolas attached to 75 houses in the Puckapunyal and Seymour area and ducted heating installed in 147 houses. In addition, all houses constructed in the 1990s are having a full makeover with newly renovated kitchens, bathrooms and en suite, as well as new carpet and paint throughout. So far 25 houses have had this major renovation work completed however several more have been taken offline to allow work to go ahead.
Brigadier Mark Holmes, Commander of the Land Warfare Development Centre and the Senior ADF Representative in Puckapunyal, has expressed his support for the project and has been impressed with the quality of work completed to date.
"DHA continue to support the Army Families in Puckapunyal and Seymour with clever solutions to address the housing needs of all ranks. I have been impressed with the quality of DHA's work in improving and renovating the homes in this community. They have communicated their plans widely and got the contractors into the work as quickly as possible. DHA's continued positive support the families and combat capability of the PMA is greatly appreciated."
In August this year, DHA held an open day for residents living on-base to view one of the completed houses. Over 50 people took the opportunity to view the house and overall the comments were quite positive.
DHA requests the patience of personnel being posted to Puckapunyal at the end of this year. This program of upgrades is critical to improving the quality of housing at Puckapunyal but does require houses to be taken offline for a few months to allow work to be completed. If you are having difficulty securing a house in the Puckapunyal or Seymour area, contact DHA on 139 342 to discuss your housing options.
