600th house completed in Nation Building program

This week Defence Housing Australia (DHA) has delivered the 600th house funded by the Nation building-Economic Stimulus Plan. The house is located in the northern suburbs of Darwin.

With only 229 houses to go, DHA is well ahead of schedule to deliver all 829 houses in the program.

Houses are complete in most locations with construction still underway in Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Ipswich, Melbourne and Sydney.

As part of the Federal Government’s stimulus package, DHA was allocated $245.58 million to build 802 houses throughout Australia. However due to program efficiencies an extra 27 houses were added to the program.

All houses in the program are now expected to be completed by March 2011.
