DHA Board Appointments

Defence Housing Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Director to the Board. The Hon. Arch Bevis has recently joined us for a three-year term.

Mr Bevis has had a long and distinguished political career spanning more than 20 years. He was elected to the House of Representatives and represented the electorate of Brisbane from 1990 to 2010. His experience with Defence includes serving as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence from 1994 to 1996, as Chairperson of the Defence Sub-Committee from 2007 to 2010 and as a current member of the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal.

DHA is also pleased to announce that Mr Derek Volker AO, will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board for another three years. Mr Volker was originally appointed Chairman of Defence Housing Australia (DHA) on 26 July 2008.

During his time as Chairman of DHA, Mr Volker has overseen a number of significant achievements, including the construction of 829 new homes as part of the Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan, the launch of the DHA Apprenticeship Support Scheme and assisting Defence families following natural disasters in Queensland earlier this year.

In addition, the Hon. Sandy Macdonald has also been extended to serve as a Director for a further two years. He was also appointed to the Board in August 2008. Mr Macdonald has provided valuable advice to DHA in our acquisition of a number of new developments during his term, and we look forward to his contributions over the next term.
