Annual Report 2010–11 released

Defence Housing Australia (DHA) has released the Annual Report for 2010–11.

"DHA has had another successful year" said DHA Managing Director, Michael Del Gigante. "We constructed 888 houses including the final 185 funded by the Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan."

New land purchases were made in Townsville and Sydney, which will assist DHA to manage Defence housing needs in both cities. While in Darwin, construction began on 97 new houses to be built at Larrakeyah Barracks.

DHA also achieved record sale and leaseback revenues of $367 million over the 2010–11 year.

Natural disasters in Queensland posed a challenge for DHA. Our staff responded quickly and effectively to minimise the impact on Defence families, and ensure our investors were kept informed.

Sustainable housing was another focus this year, with all new homes built from 1 July 2010 incorporating a minimum House Energy Rating of six stars. Mr Del Gigante says "this will help to ensure our houses reduce environmental impacts and the cost of living for families".

"With 2010–11 behind us, we look forward to even greater achievements over the next year", said Mr Del Gigante.
