Freedom of Information and the Information Publication Scheme
Freedom of Information
The broad objective of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) is to give the Australian community access to information held by the Government of the Commonwealth.
Individuals can submit a request to Defence Housing Australia (DHA) for access to documents DHA holds and obtain copies of those documents.
Further information about the FOI process (including how to make a request to DHA under the FOI Act) can be obtained through the Freedom of Information page.
Information Publication Scheme
The 2010 reforms to the FOI Act included the introduction of the Information Publication Scheme (IPS) which requires Australian Government agencies subject to the FOI Act to provide a broad range of information on their websites. The IPS commenced on 1 May 2011.
Further information about the IPS (including details of DHA's Information Publication Plan) can be obtained through the Information Publication Scheme page.
